Handcrafted cutlery since 1800

At the beginning of his business (early 1960s), my father, Petrunti Domenico, produced mainly sharpeners and grafting knives. The typical shape of the Frosolone sharpener was the one with the olive leaf blade and was produced in two sizes: 13 and 14 cm in total length. My father was the first to introduce the English-type blade to Frosolone. He told me that he had seen this blade on a small Imperial knife that founder Michele (Mike) Miranda had given him during a visit to Frosolone. It was a commemorative knife sharpener for the company's 50th anniversary made in 1966, which I still keep in my collection. He liked this type of blade right away and my father had two moulds made, for the 13 cm and 14 cm sharpener, and began production. Immediately the other competing companies did the same and this blade shape also became typical of Frosolone production. For the 20th anniversary of my activity (1995-2015), I decided to resume production of the 13 cm sharpener in a limited series and with precious materials: W-1.4116 stainless steel and Damasteel stainless steel (ATS-34 and 440A) for the blades, various types of horn and precious woods for the handles, stainless steel spring and brass plates. I made a small modification by removing the ring and making a hole on the head of the spring to hang it. I also decided to punch the blades PETRUNTI DOMENICO FROSOLONE in honour of my father, who never used a brand with his name: he either punched the knives with the name of the companies he worked for or with the name of his father, Rocco Petrunti. Each of these penknives comes with a leather sheath and a certificate of guarantee with the technical specifications.
