The name derives from the place of greatest diffusion, Tuscany, with the production of Scarperia. In fact, in Frosolone it is also called Scarperia. Similar to the Zuava of Frosolone but larger in size, especially in the width of the blade and handle. The blade has the typical oriental yatagan shape that spread in Europe following Napoleon's Zouave soldiers after the Egyptian campaign.
